Community-Based Research Escapade

Thematic Output

Just last February, Mrs. Vera Cruz discussed the community-based research project and gave us a project about searching for issues or topics that we could explore in our municipality, Bantay. But before that, they ask us to pick using paper, and our leader picks science, technology, and health, and the topic that we choose is health and wellness. It was actually a good idea that we chose that topic because the government of our municipality needs to focus on this arising issue to find a solution, and people would be aware that this issue is very alarming. And actually, it was actually challenging to pick a certain arising issue because there are so many issues that are more heavy.  Even so, I do think that our issue that we explore is really heavy and needs a lot of attention.

In making this CBR project, there are a lot of things that we do to create research that is for us, and we are satisfied with the results. So, here is my experience with the research.

First, after the announcement of Mrs. Vera Cruz, we discussed what to do and what part we would do so that everyone would have a contribution. Actually, I have great co-members, so I didn't worry too much because I knew that they could give their best on this project.  Anyway, we discussed what barangay we will research and what the case topic will be.

Second, our leader Ben explained to us, using a message, what he knew about the current situation. He shared his knowledge about certain topics because he took seminars. I also try to interview someone and share my knowledge by writing directly about the task that I need to finish. The topic that was highlighted in our research is all about malnutrition, and I wasn't actually aware that there is a malnutrition case in barangay Aggay or in our municipality.

Third, as I wrote my parts, I did research on that certain issue with the help of my father, who knows this certain type of issue. But I first understood what this issue was and tried to write down all of my ideas.

And lastly, after that, my co-members sent their parts. I tried to check the spelling and revise some parts so that we could give our teacher a great CBR. Us members tried to help each other, like if we didn’t know what to do, we would ask for assistance using chats. And it was convenient that we listened to each other's problems about the CBR because it helped us finish it better. So, in this project, communication and teamwork were essential for our success.

Finally, to summarize, the CBR project taught me many things, including that there are certain types of issues that are not properly discussed and that need a lot of attention. The CBR taught me that we should open our eyes to see the current problems and that we need to dig deeper to solve everything before it’s too late. It was a fun experience writing and doing this research, and even if it's a little bit stressful, I know that someday this can help me in the future.
